Description
The open field bell pepper Djagila was bred by Dr. Hartmut Spieß, pioneer of biodynamic breeding, at the Dottenfelder Hof and registered in 2024 and placed under the open source seed license. Djagila has initially yellow, later red ripening, pointed fruits. The plants are medium-long in habit (approx. 80 cm) and bear well-developed, sweet, thick-fleshed, aromatic fruits.
After the first harvest, the plants remont so that numerous sweet peppers can be harvested continuously until November. The fruits are large with an average length of around 20 to 25 cm and an average weight of around 130g. The yellow peppers begin to ripen in July. Red fruits can be harvested from August. The harvest window extends into November. The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption as well as for making preserves and powder.
