Description

Chinese asparagus salad is a special salad experience. The fleshy stalk is the actual yield. It is harvested before the buds form, peeled and prepared raw or cooked like asparagus or kohlrabi. The plants need sufficient space and care to form strong “asparagus”. During the short rosette stage, the outer leaves can be harvested like lettuce.

Location requirements

Humus-rich, loose soil.

Sowing

On the windowsill in February/March. Cover seeds only lightly with soil.

Germination

10 – 18 ° C, 5 – 8 days.

Plantation

After the cotyledons have developed, prick out in pots and plant out in the open after approx. 6 weeks. Weed regularly and avoid competition so that a strong stalk forms.

At least 30 x 30 cm.
