Description

The marbled lentil is characterised by its small, brown-black marbled seeds, an upright growth habit and its pretty blue flowers. In the kitchen, they are used in stews or to make spreads. Lentils can be grown well in mixed cultivation with cereals or other supporting crops.

Location requirements

Sunny and warm. Soil rich in limestone and loess.

April. Sowing depth: 2 – 4 cm.

Germination

15 – 20 °C, 8 days.

Plantation

Lentils are legumes and bind nitrogen from the air. It is therefore not advisable to fertilize them excessively.
